Wow he's even voted against the recent SCHIP bill President Obama passed in order to give our children nationalized Health Care.

In September 2006 (and again in 2007 & 2008), Calvert was named one of the "20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress" in a report by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. The organization said "His ethics issues stem from his use of earmarks for personal gain and his connections to a lobbying firm under investigation."[7]

Calvert went with businessman Thomas Kontogiannis and now-convicted Congressman Randy Cunningham on a December 2004 trip to Saudi Arabia. They were accompanied by Rancho Santa Fe businessman Ziyad Abduljawad, who paid for the trip. Kontogiannis is currently an unindicted co-conspirator (#3) in the Cunningham scandal.[8]
The activities of lobbying firm Copeland, Lowery, Jacquez, Denton and White (now dissolved) is currently under investigation by a federal grand jury. On May 23, 2006, the FBI obtained Calvert's financial records at the same time it pulled the records of Representative Jerry Lewis, who is at the center of the Copeland Lowery lobbying controversy. Calvert helped pass through at least 13 earmarks sought by Copeland Lowery in 2005, totalling over $91 million.
Earmarks for the Corona Transit Center
In May 2007, the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct of the U.S. House of Representatives sent Calvert a letter stating that his earmark request for $5.6 million for the Corona Transit Center did not, in the committee's opinion, constitute a "financial interest". The transit center, a hub for rail commuters and an a transfer point for bus connections, is in the vicinity (from .1 miles to 1.7 miles) of seven properties in which Calvert has an ownership interest. Calvert had successfully obtained earmarks of $700,000 in 2004 and $500,000 in 2006 for the transit center. [9]

In 1993 Calvert was arrested for soliciting a prostitute.[10][11] The Riverside Press-Enterprise went to court to force the Corona police to release the police report. In that report, the arresting officer wrote:
"I observed a male subject in the driver seat... As I made my way to the driver door, a female immediately sat up straight in the front passenger seat. It appeared as if her head was originally laying in the driver's lap... Both subjects were extremely nervous. I noticed that the male subject was placing his penis into his unzipped dress slacks, and was trying to hide it with his untucked dress shirt... The male subject started his vehicle and placed it into drive and proceeded to leave. I ordered him three times to turn off the vehicle, and he finally stopped and complied... The male identified himself as Kenneth Stanton Calvert... and stated 'We're just talking that's all, nothing else.' ...I spoke with Linberg separately. I asked her if she had ever been arrested for anything, and she said, 'Yes, for prostitution and under the influence of heroin.' Linberg said she had last 'shot up' approximately one week prior and is currently on methadone."
Also in 1993, Calvert and his former wife, Robin, were divorced after 15 years of marriage. His ex-wife later accused him of not paying the alimony arranged. In addition, his father committed suicide. After these experiences, Calvert said that the experiences "have helped me mature greatly... and become a better person."[12]

One of the most popular ballads in the canon of American music has started a cat fight -- or a comedy show.
The song in question is "At Last," made famous by Riverside resident Etta James and recently brought back into the pop culture limelight thanks to Beyoncé's performance for the first dance at President Barack Obama's inaugural ball and the 2008 film "Cadillac Records."
James talked about Beyoncé's version on stage in Seattle Jan. 28, according to a report in The Seattle Times and also at a concert in Coquitlam, British Columbia on Jan. 31 in an audio clip from Crown City Media, said she would "whip" the pop star for singing her song, in language that would warrant at least a PG rating. She also poked fun at Obama's ears and said he "ain't my president."
Gossip sites such as TMZ have labeled it celebrity feud, but James said she was just trying to make people laugh."I'm a comedian besides a singer," James said in a telephone interview from her home on Thursday morning. "I wasn't doing it to be hateful."
In the audio clip from the Canadian show, the audience can be heard laughing at James' comments before she goes into "At Last."
James said her comments were meant to be taken as, "She's up here singing my song, now what am I gonna do?"
Beyoncé's representatives had no comment on James' remarks.
The singer has never shied away from speaking her mind on stage.
"I think I'm funny and she's not the only one I'll say something about," she said. A self-admitted critic, the 71-year-old said in a December interview that she liked the film "Cadillac Records" and Beyoncé did a good job portraying her. However, James takes a lot of pride her signature song, and would have liked to have an opportunity to sing the song at the inaugural ball, where Beyoncé performed.
"She got up there and sang it and didn't give me a chance to sing 'At Last,'" James said. In the audio clip from the Canadian concert, James said, "He ain't my president, he might be your president."
James said she was just talking about his ears and said, "He's the United States' president."
On inauguration night, Beyoncé kicked off the Neighborhood Ball with an emotional performance of "At Last."
As Beyoncé fought back tears, Obama and his wife, Michelle, swayed cheek-to-cheek in their first dance of the night, creating one of the lasting images of the evening.
Two weeks ago, James' son told the Daily News his mom, who has suffered health setbacks after gastric bypass surgery, was moved by the performance.
And the pair didn't seem to have a problem with each other last year when they posed together at the premiere of "Cadillac Records," in which the younger singer portrayed James.
The audio clip also reveals that the 71-year-old James apparently isn't very fond of Obama, either.
"You know your President, right? You know the one with the big ears?" she asked the audience. "He ain't my President."
A spokeswoman for Beyoncé said she had no comment

Historic Musical Icon and long time Riverside Resident talks to PE.com about "Cadillac Records" the new film, loosely based on her life played by Pop Star Beyonce' Knowles
Etta James is in her twenties, blonde and recording "At Last" all over again--at least on the big screen.
Beyonce portrays the vocal legend and Riverside resident in "Cadillac Records," a film about the rhythm & blues revolution and the stars of Chess Records, a record label that helped launch the music into the mainstream. Beyonce also tackles some of James' best-known songs in the movie, which opens Friday.
Perhaps the toughest critic she has faced is James, a movie-lover who said in a telephone interview this week she can complain about anything.
"I never like anything that's done on me," she said.
But James, 70, attended the premiere in Los Angeles last week and gave Beyonce a raving thumbs up.
"She did a good job. I just think I'm really blessed that she did this movie and she did it like she did," she said.

Arreola grew up in East LA, his father was a boxer and he started boxing at the age of 8 and at 16 had "about 200 amateur bouts"(Max boxing) before losing interest and quitting. At 20 he got back into boxing and after only three months of training managed to win the National Golden Gloves in 2001 as a light-heavyweight against Dallas Vargas who had about 300 amateur fights at that time.
After another hiatus from boxing, this time for two years, he tried to come back for the 2003 Golden Gloves but arrived shortly after the check-in deadline prompting him to turn pro.

In 2003 the Goossen Tutor promoted tatooed 6-foot-4 fighter turned pro at heavyweight with little fanfare. His nickname is "Nightmare". Despite his amateur success Arreola carried a lackadaisical attitude into the pro ranks. Looking back he says: “I really didn’t know if boxing was going to be my career. I wasn’t sure about turning pro and once I did, I just took it one fight at a time. But then I starting knocking guys out and I gradually started thinking, ‘Hey, maybe I can make some money doing this’.”
At first the offensive-minded Arreola only beat weak opposition but got good sparring in California against Wladimir Klitschko, Hasim Rahman and James Toney. He now resides in Riverside, California.
Riverside police are looking for leads in four unsolved fatal shootings in the past month. The most recent two came this past weekend with the deaths of a 16-year-old boy in Casa Blanca and a 41-year-old man in Arlanza.
The deaths bring Riverside to 12 homicides already this year, matching its 2007 total. The city typically has 10 to 12 homicides each year.
Sgt. Derwin Hudson said detectives have no suspects and are asking for the public's help in the homicides.
Two of the deaths occurred in the city's Casa Blanca neighborhood. Hudson said they do not appear to be connected. Gang investigators are assisting but so far nothing is pointing in that direction, he said.
About 5 a.m. Saturday, 16-year-old Johnny Macias was shot at the intersection of Diamond and Bunker streets after a confrontation with several men, Hudson said.
Friends took Macias to Riverside Community Hospital where he died more than 10 hours later, according to the Riverside County coroner's office.
On Sunday, two open beer cans and a rose in an empty Hennessy bottle made a small memorial. A San Miguel Arcangel candle burned on top of a black bandana. His friends paid their respects at the site but would not talk about Macias.
Three weeks earlier, a 20-year-old man was shot on nearby Evans Street. Police have not released the man's name. The man was found in front of a residence in the 7300 block of Evans Street at 11:23 p.m. and died shortly afterward at Riverside Community Hospital, police said.
The other two shooting deaths occurred on the western end of Riverside.
On Aug. 28, Sean Mychal Soria, 18, was shot in a gas station parking lot at La Sierra and Indiana avenues about 12:30 a.m., police said. The bullets shattered the glass doors the gas station market.
On Saturday night, police responded to reports of shots fired in Bryant Park on Philbin Avenue in Riverside, police said. Manuel Augustin Flores, 41, was found wounded several times in the upper torso.
Hudson said the detectives again have no suspect information or details of what happened before the shooting. "There was no one else around, he was alone," Hudson said

In addition to the other DUI checkpoints all over the county, Riverside PD just announced theirs, scheduled for this Friday.
The Riverside Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Drivers
License checkpoint on Friday, August 22, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 12
midnight, in an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and
injured in alcohol involved collisions. DUI checkpoints are conducted
to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate
the public on the dangers of impaired driving.
This year, the City of Riverside has experienced five fatalities as a
result of DUI driving; there were six in 2007. This DUI/Drivers
License checkpoint is an effort to reduce those tragedies as well as
ensuring drivers have a valid driver’s license.
A DUI checkpoint is a visible and effective method for raising
awareness and reducing the incidence of drinking drivers. By
publicizing these enforcement and education efforts, the Riverside
Police Department believes motorists can be deterred from drinking and
driving and encourage sober designated drivers.
Traffic volume and weather permitting, all vehicles at the chosen
location may be checked. Drivers who are under the influence of
alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested. Our objective is to send a
clear message to those who are considering driving a motor vehicle
after consuming alcohol and/or drugs - Drunk Driving, Over the Limit,
Under Arrest.
The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if
they see a suspected impaired driver

This that bullshit I was talkin about a month ago, now that the Inland Empire is now under the "Gang Injunction" Juridstiction, Colton Police made it priority to televise ''the zoo'' being the target of the controversial law.

It appears to be a tradition of sorts. Beef is brewing between the G-Unit member 40 Glocc and others. 40, reportedly a Los Angeles Crip, took offense to Lil Wayne and Birdman and their alleged Blood ties.
According to 40, in a recent Hip Hop Weekly interview, he and his people stopped Weezy and Baby while they were rolling around L.A. and approached them about this. This "ambush" was not pleasing to the Cash Money Millionaires. Now, 40 is claiming that a hit has been placed on his life and the beef is taking on a life of its own.
"These niggas be wolfin' all that Blood shit and dissin' Crips. When Baby started gang bangin', at 52? And Lil' Wayne started gang bangin' at twenty-somethin'. These niggas got the audacity to be dissin' a whole culture they don't know nothin' about!" touted the man who released That New Nigga last year.
In regards to a hit on his life, 40 claims to not be scared.
"Go 'head put the price on it. Now I'm gon' beat the breaks off their asses when I see them again. We kill each other over a color so what you think we'll do to them over dissin' us?"
40 also takes offense to former G-Unit members Young Buck and The Game.
"Fuck these niggas wit' the fake Crippin' and Bloodin', that nigga Buck be fake Crippin'. I call him, Game and Wayne "the Three Amigos." he added, having released a song recently of the same name [click to listen].

This is ONE of the many reasons I didn't attend this year. I went two years ago when Nas, Ghost and Rae headlined and I was hugely dissapointed.

The Gang Injunction Law might be something you've heard of, most of the Cali Heads reading possibly have the law already pre-exsisting in your city or town already.
But if you aren't in the know, us Riverside residents now fall under the juristiction of the radical and extreme/controversial hand of our state's Gang Injunction law.

A new prosecutor has been appointed to handle Riverside County gang injunction cases.
Deputy District Attorney Mike Mayman is replacing Jack Lucky, who was appointed as a judge this week by Gov. Schwarzenegger.
Mayman worked for three years as a civil lawyer before joining the district attorney's office in 2000 and has been working with Lucky since November. He was added to the injunction team because Lucky was pursuing the judgeship, Lucky said.
Lucky finalized Riverside County's first gang injunction in Riverside in January and, with Mayman's help, is pursuing a second injunction in Cathedral City.
Gang injunctions have become a controversial issue with District Attorney Rod Pacheco and Riverside Police Chief Russ Leach disagreeing on how the Riverside injunction should be enforced.
A gang injunction is a civil order that prohibits individuals identified as members of a given gang from congregating in certain areas or wearing gang paraphernalia, among other restrictions. Law enforcement agencies across Southern California have used them to disrupt gang activity.
The district attorney's office is looking for another lawyer with experience in civil practice to help prosecute the injunctions and prepare any future injunctions, Mayman said.
He said he did not learn until this week that the office was planning on adding a second prosecutor to the injunction staff permanently.
"Jack was a good teacher, and I don't see any problems," he said.
He said he will work alone on injunctions until a second prosecutor is chosen. He did not know when that would be.
