92503 Activity : Press Enterprise counts Riverside Homicides at 12 so far in 2008

(taken from Press Enterprise.com)
Riverside police are looking for leads in four unsolved fatal shootings in the past month. The most recent two came this past weekend with the deaths of a 16-year-old boy in Casa Blanca and a 41-year-old man in Arlanza.

The deaths bring Riverside to 12 homicides already this year, matching its 2007 total. The city typically has 10 to 12 homicides each year.

Sgt. Derwin Hudson said detectives have no suspects and are asking for the public's help in the homicides.

Two of the deaths occurred in the city's Casa Blanca neighborhood. Hudson said they do not appear to be connected. Gang investigators are assisting but so far nothing is pointing in that direction, he said.

About 5 a.m. Saturday, 16-year-old Johnny Macias was shot at the intersection of Diamond and Bunker streets after a confrontation with several men, Hudson said.

Friends took Macias to Riverside Community Hospital where he died more than 10 hours later, according to the Riverside County coroner's office.

On Sunday, two open beer cans and a rose in an empty Hennessy bottle made a small memorial. A San Miguel Arcangel candle burned on top of a black bandana. His friends paid their respects at the site but would not talk about Macias.

Three weeks earlier, a 20-year-old man was shot on nearby Evans Street. Police have not released the man's name. The man was found in front of a residence in the 7300 block of Evans Street at 11:23 p.m. and died shortly afterward at Riverside Community Hospital, police said.

The other two shooting deaths occurred on the western end of Riverside.

On Aug. 28, Sean Mychal Soria, 18, was shot in a gas station parking lot at La Sierra and Indiana avenues about 12:30 a.m., police said. The bullets shattered the glass doors the gas station market.

On Saturday night, police responded to reports of shots fired in Bryant Park on Philbin Avenue in Riverside, police said. Manuel Augustin Flores, 41, was found wounded several times in the upper torso.

Hudson said the detectives again have no suspect information or details of what happened before the shooting. "There was no one else around, he was alone," Hudson said

Damn homie,

Two of the above were smoked real close to home.

Now all my people know I've been real low key this year, but I still got people active. I aint know the murder rate was what it was this year.

Like I've said before, not to many locals frequent my site, but this is pretty dissapointing news.

Especially because I know one of those particular deaths is going to directly effect some of my people that are still active. I wish I could do something to change the outcome of things, but things are sometimes beyond your control, and you sadly have to accept it as reality.

I know some of these beefs date so far back that it's beyond anybody's control but someone needs to step to the plate and make a change in the hood for once.

It's a sad situation.

9/11 Memorial

First, I'd like to take a moment of silence for all those who lost their lives 7 years ago on this date.

I remember 9/11/01 clearly, I had just started the job I thought I was going to make a career out of. I remember waking up to Howard Stern and hearing the whole Stern crew explain what had just happened.

I don't know who's reading my blog, but if you are, and you are eligible to vote. Please do so. It's time for change. Bush has fucked this country up un-believable since the attack on the towers. We need change.

Speaking of Change, I guess the 9/11 Jones rubbed off on Shawty Lo as he finallydecides to give T.I.'s testicles a rest.

DJ Parlar - SAMPLOLOGY: Isaac Hayes Chapter

Ever since I got ahold of the J Dilla Chapter that DJ Parler put together I’ve been hooked. Trading a few emails I’ve had the priviledge to get each new chapter a little early so I could enjoy by my elitest self. Check his K West Chapter, American Gangster Chapter and so forth. With the passing of Isaac Hayes, DJ Parler felt it necessary to put together a SAMPLOLOGY in honor of the fallen legend.

Very unfortunate to have lost two great ones this past weekend…R.I.P. to Bernie Mac & Isaac Hayes…though this is an impromptu chapter for the SAMPLOLOGY Series, if there’s anyone that deserves to have one created it would be Mr. Isaac Hayes…his countless contributions to music & film helped lay the groundwork for Hip Hop, R&B, Disco, Funk & more… - DJ Parler

Rest In Peace : Issac Hayes, Bernie Mac

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Isaac Hayes, the baldheaded, baritone-voiced soul crooner who laid the groundwork for disco and whose "Theme From Shaft" won both Academy and Grammy awards, died Sunday afternoon after he collapsed near a treadmill, authorities said. He was 65.

Hayes was pronounced dead at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis an hour after he was found by a family member, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said. The cause of death was not immediately known.

With his muscular build, shiny head and sunglasses, Hayes cut a striking figure at a time when most of his contemporaries were sporting Afros. His music, which came to be known as urban-contemporary, paved the way for disco as well as romantic crooners like Barry White.

And in his spoken-word introductions and interludes, Hayes was essentially rapping before there was rap

R.I.P.
Bernie Mac

As you all may or may not know, Isaac Hayes is and was my a huge influence on almost anything creative I've done or do. His body of work was innovative.

I had no clue he was having health problems. This is a shock.

If you look at his catalougue, it's extensive. He was a man who accomplished alot and made some magical music. He, aside from James Brown was one of the most sampled artist in rap music.
Damn, that's a tragic loss.

and I was on my way to go watch Pineapple Express right now, kind of fucked my mood up.

I know it's a tad bit annoying to go to blogs who have music automatically playing when you hit their home page, but being that this man was so influental I will be letting this youtube video autoplay the whole week.

REST IN PEACE.

Prodigy Speaks on Sean Bell verdict.. Via' his BLOG

(entry taken from Nah Right.com)

P’s publicist just sent this out. Judging by the conservative use of CAPS, I’m guessing he dictated this to somebody over the phone.

“First of all, rest in peace to Sean Bell and I want to send my condolences to his wife, kids, family and friends and all the Sean Bell boys - Hold your head.

We lost alot of battles but we will win the war. The decision in the Queens courtroom on Friday, April 25 was simply a display of power. The NYPD is just a branch of corruption connected to a giant corrupt tree called the United States government. This tyrannical corrupt tree has its roots planted deep into the United Kingdom.

The Sean Bell murder coverup is less about race and more about power. This evil family tree of corruption will do whatever it takes to remain in a position of power. They will put a judge who they can control on the case, in order to get the outcome they want and eliminate the risk of being exposed and exposing the higher ups. I want to be very clear that all judges, DAs, lawyers, cops are not corrupt, just most of them.

People of all races need to come together to control our government and run a giant comb through it, so we can see the filth that comes out. Right now we have a government that controls the people, instead of people that control their government. Until we can do that, there’ll be several more incidents like the murder of Sean Bell.

America is under a spell and we need to snap out of it.”

Jacki also reps Cormega, who had this to say:

“The Sean Bell murder itself was a reflection of how expendable black men are In the eyes of many.

The verdict was a far worse crime because it stripped a dead man of his rights and it stripped a community of hope. We came so far as a people yet gained little momentum but I would like to thank society for re opening my eyes to the myth called equality and the justice that eludes just us! Power to the People!”

KL of Queensbridge based group Screwball passed away earlier this week after suffering an asthma attack. My man DJ Peter Parker hit me about this yesterday, but I was unable to confirm.

Grandgood points to a quote from DJ Premier over at DJ Noodles’ site.

It’s kind of ill because I had Screwball in my head after QD3 upped this segment about their controversial song Who Shot Rudy to his Youtube channel just a few days ago.
