Nas talks to KING Magazine about his current feelings towards 50 and Mobb Deep
King Magazine recently released some lost excerpts of an interview with Nas. While most of it had to do with Nas discussing his early years in Hip Hop, one question and accusation proved to be a bit eyebrow raising.
"I ran into Prodigy last week and asked him, 'What should I ask Nas?' He said, 'Ask him, ‘What happened backstage at the Central Park show in 2004,’” Thomas Golianopoulos inquired.
“Man, that was some classic Mobb Deep shit. They was rumbling,” Nas replied regarding a fight that took place backstage between Mobb Deep and others. But Prodigy thinks that those involved were Nas’ people.
“He thinks you set him up,” Golianopoulos responded
and when given the oppurtunity to salt the former friend's name, Nas responds very cool and calmly.
“I did hear that. Nah, I would never do that to him,” Nas retorted. “We had our differences, which was really just hyped up bullshit. I wish everything for Prodigy. They caught a lot of bad breaks. I just wish the best for him. I wish he didn’t have to do this time. And I would love to see them come back again. I would be the first person in the record store buying a Mobb album. I want to see them give it to us however many more times.”
Nas also revealed how he felt about Mobb Deep joining G-Unit.
“I was really happy to see 50 embrace them. I thought that was G because that’s something that doesn’t happen from the higher ups. All these big companies, they don’t care about us. They don’t care about the talented ones that aren’t given a fair shot and I thought it was a good move on 50’s
No condescending, in-direct tone towards the "friend's turned foes"? Good work Nasir, had an oppurtunity to bad-mouth two of your former counter-parts and didn't take the bait. How mature.
Nothing says "you're of NO importance at all" more than complimenting the competition.

“Nigger” or “Nigga”, not even the lesser evil “negro”, could ever be our title. We are way more complicated, beautiful and intelligent than any word created for us. Africa isn’t even a name we chose for the continent. But hey… it is what it is. Some things just stick and are hard to change. What would be a proper name for us? Think about it. We should decide on it. I don’t think it matters much but, with that being said, racial bias will probably never die. You would think in this day and in these times, with all that’s going on all over the planet, we should be past this. I want to be past this but it seems like some things don’t go away. Instead they get more dangerous and worse. Nigger is a word that comes from the African-American slave trade. That slave trade is a massive part of American history but people want to sweep it under the rug like it never existed……….

I haven't read an album's CD Jacket ever since I last bought one, which was a little over 2 years ago.
I miss the excitement of purchasing a new album, slicing the shrink-wrap and reading the track-listing, photography/artwork, obscure shot-outs, etc.

I'm starting to warm up to this "NIGGER" "Untitled" album as the days go by.
I have been givin Nas the silent treatment due to the out-landishness of the whole "Nigger" concept, he was losin me with "hip hop is dead" and I just figured that dude had smoked one too many this time around...
but as I listen, it's starting to feel more and more like Nas *no homo* and not the result of too much time and potent marijuana smoke.

fans who felt disillusioned by Nas’ pragmatic decision to unname his album “N—-r,” can look forward to Nas’ taking the politically incorrect, unsubtle approach with his upcoming “Be a N—-r Too” video. Rik Cordero and Nas shot the video last week in LA (and some parts here in NY) and the concept will be very familiar to movie buffs. I can’t give away any more, but I’ll say that there will be some celebrity cameos. And not the usual “hey, these are random rappers that I don’t know that well but who will show up when I shoot a video and pretend to party with me in this rented space with the rest of my casted modeltypes” cameos.
There will be more preview posters tomorrow, but this one is especially striking, and horrifying, and powerful. Next week, there will be an exclusive viewing of the video. I definitely look forward to it.
